چکیده

The demographic history of Creole cattle in Argentina and Latin America dates back to the time Spanishcolonization. This study aimed investigate potential use a mediumdensity SNP array describe cattlefromthe most representative andoldest herds Argentine breedregisteredat theconstitution Argentinean Cattle Breeders Association explore phylogenetic relationship withCreole fromother LatinAmericancountries. Toachieve this goal, genotypes from51 animals on34,008autosomal were used generate genetic distance matrices based on proportion shared identicalbystatealleles among individual clustered according their origin, analyzed by PLINKprogram.Aneighborjoining tree pairwise was constructed using PHYLIP wasprepared for visualization FigTree. Amultidimensional scaling analysis performed evaluate levelof terms different animal clusters. Genetic distances between animalsvaried from0.186 0.357 when considering all pairs animals, 0.338 Creolepairs. dendrogramobtained showed three major Cluster 1 included American fromColombia, Guadalupe, Paraguay, Uruguay, reference groups Holstein Jersey cattle. 2contained exclusively Patagonian cattle, while third cluster remaining Creoles. The patterns obtainedvia multidimensional showeda close fourgroups fromArgentina. closeness clusters can be explained part basis ofearly migration that gave rise founders at some locations. outcomes thisstudycontribute toabetter understandingof compositionof earlyfounder inArgentina with other populations.

Explorations in creole research with phylogenetic tools

The principal goal of this paper is to illustrate various ways in which phylogenetic tools can advantageously be put to use in investigating and visualizing the relationships of creole languages to other languages, both creoles and non-creoles. After introducing a test study on the English-based creoles, the major theories seeking to explain the emergence and development of creoles will be revi...

Genomic variation and population structure detected by single nucleotide polymorphism arrays in Corriedale, Merino and Creole sheep

THE AIM OF THIS STUDY WAS TO INVESTIGATE THE GENETIC DIVERSITY WITHIN AND AMONG THREE BREEDS OF SHEEP: Corriedale, Merino and Creole. Sheep from the three breeds (Merino n = 110, Corriedale n = 108 and Creole n = 10) were genotyped using the Illumina Ovine SNP50 beadchip(®). Genetic diversity was evaluated by comparing the minor allele frequency (MAF) among breeds. Population structure and gene...

Against Creole exceptionalism (redux)*

1. RECONSIDERING CREOLE EXCEPTIONALISM? The primary goal of my Discussion Note ‘Against Creole exceptionalism’ (Language 79.2.391–410, hereafter ACE) was to demystify a variety of past and present beliefs—widespread in and outside academia—according to which Creole languages constitute an exceptional class on phylogenetic and/or typological grounds. Derek Bickerton’s reply (‘Reconsidering Creol...

Intraspecific Variation and Phylogenetic Relationships Are Revealed by ITS1 Secondary Structure Analysis and Single-Nucleotide Polymorphism in Ganoderma lucidum

Ganoderma lucidum is a typical polypore fungus used for traditional Chinese medical purposes. The taxonomic delimitation of Ganoderma lucidum is still debated. In this study, we sequenced seven internal transcribed spacer (ITS) sequences of Ganoderma lucidum strains and annotated the ITS1 and ITS2 regions. Phylogenetic analysis of ITS1 differentiated the strains into three geographic groups. Gr...
